Introducing the New Community Council

Without a doubt, the Pyth community has been a constant source of creativity, inspiration, and drive for the network and its ecosystem. And today, the Pyth contributors are thrilled to start a new chapter by welcoming the Community Council.

On March 5, 2025, the Pyth Network DAO voted to establish the Pyth Community Council—a dedicated 7-member body responsible for overseeing community initiatives, fostering engagement, and amplifying the collective voice of the Pyth community.

Previously, the Pyth DAO operated with two bodies: the Pythian Council and the Price Feed Council, each with their own responsibilities. But the community identified a gap in direct community affairs management, and the new Pyth Community Council is set to address this need by providing dedicated oversight of community-related matters.

About the Community Council

As outlined in forum discussions, the Pyth Community Council initiative reinforces the Pyth community's commitment to decentralization, active participation, and proper representation of community interests in the network's development. The council's core mandates include:

  • Value Creation
  • Collective Voice
  • Network Growth
  • Community incentives
  • Partnership development
  • Research initiatives

The Community Council is a governance body of seven elected members who jointly manage a Community Multisig Wallet. Through powers delegated by the Pyth DAO, this wallet enables the council to execute approved actions.

Council members are assigned specific roles, including Council Lead, Administration, Impact Operations, Partnerships and Collaborations, and Analyst, empowering members to focus on both their individual areas of expertise and coming together as a team.

Council members serve staggered 12-month terms, with elections held annually to replace two members per cycle while retaining the remaining five based on tenure, previous election votes, and multisig participation.

  • Members with less than one-third voting participation during their term are ineligible for re-election.
  • In case of an unscheduled vacancy, the highest non-elected candidate from the previous Community Council election is offered the seat.

The Pyth DAO has also adopted changes to its constitution to reflect the addition of the Community Council, its responsibilities, and procedures associated with its election.

Next Steps

Now that the Pyth DAO has approved the proposal, stay tuned for announcements on:

  1. Starting the Community Council Nomination process in the Pyth Forum
  2. Voting (on-chain) to decide the Community Council members
  3. Voting (on-chain) to approve the elected Community Council members

If you think you'd make a great Community Council member, now is the time to consider your potential role in the network and craft your message for the wider community.
