Pyth Price Feeds Launch on Aurora Cloud

Thanks to the work of the Aurora Labs team, the Pyth Price Feeds will be permissionlessly available to all upcoming Aurora Virtual Chains.

Aurora Virtual Chains are dedicated EVM-compatible blockchains built on top of the NEAR Protocol. These dedicated chains provide builders with a customized and dedicated blockchain environment similar to Aurora.

Smart contract developers entering the rollup-based world can now tap into over 500 real-time price feeds across traditional and digital asset classes, all permissionlessly via the innovative on-demand pull model.

“Leveraging Pyth Oracle allowed us to provide a familiar interface to developers building on top of an Aurora Virtual Chain. And thanks to our cross contract calls technology, all virtual chains are communicating with the Pyth Oracle on Aurora Mainnet, providing a simpler integration and support from day 1 for dApps.” — Armand, Product Lead at Aurora.

Pyth Price Feeds on Aurora Virtual Chains

With the Pyth Price Feeds already available on Aurora since late 2022 (and powering leading applications like Aurigami), the architecture of Aurora Virtual Chains to seamlessly communicate with Aurora provides a direct connection to the Pyth oracle from your own chain.

Additionally, thanks to Pyth price update shared model (where anyone can consume others' price updates), the cost to use the largest first-party oracle will be minimal for all builders. Indeed, as applications on Aurora like Aurigami are already updating Pyth prices on-chain, these updates would natively become available to all Aurora Virtual Chains. The latter will also be able to trigger price updates themselves on Aurora which will further benefit other similar chains as well as native Aurora DeFi apps.

Aurora

Aurora is an Ethereum Virtual Machine created by the team at the NEAR Protocol, delivering a turn-key solution for developers to operate their apps on an Ethereum-compatible, high-throughput, scalable, and future-safe platform, with low transaction costs for their users.

The Aurora environment consists of the Aurora Engine, a high-performance EVM — Ethereum Virtual Machine — and the Aurora Bridge, facilitating trustless transfer of ETH and ERC-20 tokens between Ethereum and Aurora, within a great user experience.

Aurora exists and is operated as an independent, self-funded initiative but will continue to leverage the shared team DNA and continually evolving technology of the NEAR Protocol.

The governance of Aurora will take a hybrid form of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization — the AuroraDAO — complemented by a traditional entity that will hold one of several seats in the AuroraDAO.

Pyth

The Pyth Network is a first-party financial data oracle network that delivers low-latency price data for various assets to blockchains securely.

Pyth incentivizes some of the world’s largest exchanges, market makers, and trading firms to contribute their proprietary data to the network. Pyth aggregates their price data on-chain for smart contracts to use. Decentralized applications can request or pull Pyth price updates on-chain when needed.

In a little over a year, Pyth is already securing over $5bn in TVL and is used by 350+ applications. Pyth supports over 500 real-time data feeds across crypto, equities, ETFs, FX pairs, and commodities, and has facilitated more than $300B in total trading volume across over 50 blockchain ecosystems.
